November 2007- Membership to the Charter
The charter has been elaborated by ANMSM (Association Nationale des Maires des Stations de Montagne) in partnership with ADEME and Mountain Riders so that local players of the ski resorts think and act together in favor of a sustainable development.
The functioning mode of the charter combines several environment magament tools like the Agenda 21, the ISO 14 0001 certification, the Sustainable Slopes Charter (the American resorts charter), Etc.
To face tomorrow's challenges, the charter suggests 130 concrete commitments in all skill areas : development and housing, natural environment, water, energy, transportation, environment awareness, etc.
The charter is also a transparent implementation system :
- Initial diagnosis of the resort
- Creation of a local structure (the follow-up committee) and a national structure l(the national follow-up committee) whose governance is balanced
- Definition of a 3-10 years action plan
- Transparent communication to local population
